The Taiwan Psychotherapy Association will be hosting an in-person course titled "The Tango of Family Therapy and Psychodrama" from March 25 to June 3, 2024.
-
Course Features:
This course will use a dual-instructor training model, where participants will learn systemic theory through psychodrama methodology. Upon completing the training, participants will receive certificates for both psychodrama training hours and systemic theory hours. -
Course Background and Purpose:
- Systemic Theory is the foundation of family therapy. Since Freud, individual psychotherapy from various schools has focused on understanding personal mental and behavioral processes, while social psychology emphasizes the influence of larger cultural societies on individuals. However, both perspectives lack a view on how interpersonal contexts, such as family dynamics, affect one another. Recent neuroscience research has increasingly shown that in order to have a healthy brain, one must have healthy relationships.
- Although the helping professions in Taiwan are flourishing, professional training has long been outside the field of Relationship Science. Even when there is some focus on relationships, it typically addresses dyadic relationships and overlooks the critical influence of third parties.
- This course aims to use psychodrama as an experiential platform to provide participants with a closer understanding of the diverse realities of Chinese families. Through this, participants will learn how to apply systemic theory concepts in their professional practice, helping them better understand the unspoken family experiences of their clients.
