About Green Care
In recent years, the integration of nature and the human soul, also known as "Green Care" or "Nature Therapy," has gained increasing popularity. This reflects the urgent need in contemporary society to relieve mental stress. Despite rapid advances in material civilization, such stress cannot be entirely eliminated. In Taiwan, green care has developed through activities like horticultural therapy, animal-assisted therapy, and wilderness therapy, which help reconnect individuals with nature. It serves as a way to adapt to life by addressing "nature deficit disorder" through nature-based prescriptions.
The Asian Experiential Education Association, founded in 2006, has recognized the value of breaking out of comfort zones to create space for personal growth. This aligns with the mission of the Adventure Therapy Committee (TTAPG), which promotes outdoor behavioral health care programs and experiential education centered on adventure therapy. This community brings together professionals from various fields, including scholars, psychiatrists, clinical and counseling psychologists, social workers, teachers, outdoor workers, and nonprofit organization personnel. Through sharing practices and experiences from both Europe, America, and Asia, the symposium aims to broaden the perspectives and professional development of mental health and psychiatric professionals in Taiwan and deepen their understanding of how nature and adventure elements can be utilized to promote individual health and healing.
This event provides a unique opportunity for professional growth and networking in the field of adventure therapy and nature-based treatments.
