Introduction The primary focus of research is on the brain's neural mechanisms. Currently, three main research topics are being explored:
A. Animal models of drug addiction behavior
B. Animal models of psychiatric disorders (including anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, post-traumatic stress disorder, bipolar disorder, etc.)
C. Neural mechanisms of learning and memory.

Research techniques include behavioral pharmacology, immunohistochemistry, ELISA, and Western blot, among other molecular biology methods. These techniques are used to examine specific brain regions involved in addiction and psychiatric disorders, as well as the specific molecules or proteins within these regions. The aim is to identify new treatments for drug addiction and various psychiatric disorders or understand the neural mechanisms involved. In the P2 laboratory, the focus is on using viral infections to study the effects of brain proteins on the physiological behaviors and cognition of mice.

Currently, only five universities in Taiwan have a neuropsychology laboratory, and Fo Guang University’s Department of Psychology is one of them.
Space and Equipment Currently, this laboratory is equipped with two access control management systems for the psychology department, an inverted fluorescence microscope imaging system, microanalysis scale, mouse breeding cages, a weighing balance for measuring body weight, a mouse activity tracking system, a dual-tube cold light machine, a dual-arm digital stereotaxic instrument, a microinjection pump for stereotaxic surgery, a peristaltic perfusion pump, a -18°C upright frost-free freezer, a -86°C freezer, a four-foot double-door 4°C refrigerated storage cabinet, a ultrapure water system, experimental tables, a heating stirrer, a drug shaker, a fume hood, an electrical stimulator, a cryostat, an optogenetics system, an electrophoresis tank, a microbead homogenizer, a microcentrifuge, an animal gas anesthesia system, an oil-free Rocker 300 vacuum pump, a physiological psychology laboratory exhaust system, and a temperature-cycling amplifier controller. The P2 laboratory is also equipped with a biological safety cabinet.
