Mackay Memorial Hospital Psychiatry Department Recruitment for Clinical Psychology Interns for the 113th Academic Year (Full Psychiatry Internship)

Department Overview: Founded in 1961, the Psychiatry Department of Mackay Memorial Hospital has been dedicated to providing comprehensive services for people of all ages, including adults, children, and adolescents, with psychological distress. In 2003, with support from the hospital, a Child Daycare Center was established to focus on early intervention services. The department boasts several senior clinical psychologists with extensive experience in clinical practice, supervision, and teaching at various schools, and many also have community service experience as long-term campus psychologists. The team fosters a harmonious working atmosphere.

We welcome students interested in adult or adolescent clinical psychology to join our Psychiatry Department and learn the professional knowledge, thinking skills, and attitudes required in clinical services.

Hospital Campus Features:

• Taipei Campus: The outpatient service ranks among the top three in Taiwan with diverse patient sources and types, primarily serving cases aged 18 and older.
• Tamsui Campus: Includes psychiatry acute wards, day-care wards, and outpatient services for children, adolescents, adults, and elderly patients.

Internship Periods:

• Full Year: From July 1, 113 to June 30, 114.
• First Half of the Year: From July 1, 113 to December 31, 113.
• Second Half of the Year: From January 1, 114 to June 30, 114.

Internship Locations:

• Mackay Memorial Hospital Psychiatry Department Clinical Psychology Rooms (Taipei and/or Tamsui Campuses):
  • For full-year interns, half of the internship will be at the Taipei Campus and the other half at the Tamsui Campus.
  • For semester-long interns, please specify the preferred period (first semester, second semester, or both) and location (Taipei, Tamsui, or both).

Internship Content:

• Familiarization with basic clinical practice: referral handling for outpatient and inpatient psychological assessments or treatments (for adults and children/adolescents), participation in teaching morning meetings, case discussions, academic lectures, and supervision discussions.
• Familiarization with the operations of a specialized psychiatric medical team: participation in regular ward rounds and other professional activities.
• Familiarization with institutional clinical psychological administrative tasks.

Recruitment Slots:

• Each campus expects to recruit 2-3 interns (combined for full-year and half-year slots).
• Full-year internship applicants will be given priority in selection.

Eligibility:

• Clinical psychology graduate students from domestic universities (part-time internships not accepted).
• Must have completed required courses for adult psychiatry (or child psychiatry) internships.
• Must have regular supervision for internships and psychotherapy from faculty members.

• A personal statement and resume (please specify the internship period and campus you are applying for, previous clinical experience, clinical tools you are familiar with, areas of professional interest, and include contact information such as phone number and email).
• Academic transcript or course completion certificate and any other materials that help us better understand your qualifications (e.g., syllabi for completed professional courses, psychological assessments, or case reports you’ve worked on).
• At least one letter of recommendation from your clinical supervisor or faculty. The recommendation should be directly emailed to joy@mmh.org.tw.
