Course Introduction
Due to the widening wealth gap, the COVID-19 pandemic, and inflation, students from disadvantaged backgrounds continue to experience declining physical and mental health. They face increasing difficulties in completing their university studies; many struggle to cover basic living expenses or even secure stable, nutritious food. Consequently, their health deteriorates, and their academic performance often lags behind that of their more economically stable peers.
This workshop will cover:
-
Evidence-Based Resource Expansion: Demonstrating how longitudinal campus collaborative research data can be used to promote resource expansion (e.g., campus food banks) to address hunger crises.
-
Innovative Global Practices: Learning about innovative approaches taken by various universities to support students in need.
-
Collaborative Brainstorming: Generating potential solutions and actions that can be implemented within university campuses.
-
Practical Action Plans: Discussing feasible action plans to improve the campus experience for marginalized and vulnerable students.
