What did the Psychology Department at Fo Guang University offer you? Fo Guang University's psychology program is rich and diverse, covering professional theories, industrial and educational psychology, as well as clinical and counseling psychology. The curriculum balances professional knowledge with practical applications, including interviews with psychologists, creative project presentations, and perceptual principles through imagery. In addition, the department provides ample academic research resources. Starting from my sophomore year, I participated in a research lab where professors were willing to guide us in writing research topics. Regular meetings allowed for discussions on research directions and the latest updates in the field. Through this experience, I discovered my own academic interests. Furthermore, working as a teaching assistant helped me develop interaction and communication skills with students, as well as independent thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities. These experiences have strengthened my soft skills, preparing me for a future career in both academia and clinical practice. Impressions of the Psychology Department at Fo Guang University The professors and classmates in the department are very warm and supportive. There are one to two mentor-student gatherings each semester where professors check in on students’ academic and personal lives. They also actively share scholarship opportunities to support students from diverse financial backgrounds. Overall, the relationship between students and professors is harmonious. Professors encourage students to express their opinions and think independently while also providing guidance when needed. A Message for High School Students Psychology is the science of understanding people. It opens the door to curiosity about yourself and the world, and curiosity helps us find passion in life. The warmth of Fo Guang University’s professors and classmates, as well as their enthusiasm for interacting with others, provides a solid foundation for those beginning their journey of self-discovery and university life. It is a place filled with both security and excitement! |
