When a client says, “I don’t know why I am living,” or when we face loss, death, loneliness, or anxiety… there is often no immediate “solution.” This is not because of a lack of professional skill—rather, it is because existential issues have no standard answers.
Existential psychotherapy does not provide ready-made answers; it offers deep accompaniment—the ability to be present with the unresolvable.
This summer course, led by Professor Hou, will guide participants from theory to practice. Through a phenomenological stance and interpretive perspective, we will explore the human way of being and return to the essence of healing and relationship:
-
Who am I?
-
What is healing?
-
How is relationship possible?
In the inevitable chaos and uncertainty of the therapy room, participants will learn to step into the “I–Thou relationship”, be present with clients, and help them recognize their own mode of existence, opening pathways toward future possibilities.
