🔥 This is not just an exhibition “reviewing trauma”; it is a practice in social psychological engagement.

After the 2015 Eight Immortals Dust Explosion, hundreds of young people suffered severe burns, drastically altering their bodies and lives. Ten years later, BeOne, Yuán-Líng, and burn survivors have co-created this exhibition.

The curatorial concept is inspired by BeOne CEO Chia-Hui Lü’s long-standing psychological practice called the “Capacity-Building Approach.” This approach does not categorize survivors as “good” or “bad,” but emphasizes that five key life capacities can develop through trauma: attachment, emotion, interpersonal, resourcefulness, and philosophy of life.

The exhibition was initiated by Clinician & Sex Counselor Yuan-Líng Chien (also a survivor of the Eight Immortals event) and co-curated with BeOne. Survivors were invited to reinterpret their ten-year journeys at their own pace and style while envisioning the next ten years.

Exhibition Highlights:

  • Survivor selfies, personal artifacts, and emotional reflections

  • Exploration of future possibilities over the next decade

  • Interactive zones allowing visitors to connect with themselves, witnessing how trauma and capacity coexist

BeOne uses the Eight Immortals Dust Explosion as a catalyst to discuss societal capacity for trauma. This exhibition encourages reflection on questions such as:

  • How can survivors reclaim their narrative agency?

  • How can relationships with self and others be strengthened through trauma?

  • If trauma becomes a starting point for capacity-building, what new possibilities emerge for the future?

These questions extend beyond the Eight Immortals incident—they reflect processes that could exist in anyone’s life. This exhibition represents an important collective memory and transformation for survivors, our team, and Taiwanese society as a whole.

We sincerely invite you to attend and engage with this meaningful experience.
