Course Introduction
In any relationship, the deepest intimacy comes from understanding and trust. However, when one partner is living with HIV and the other is not, what kind of emotional tug-of-war and social challenges does the relationship face?
"HIV-Discordant (Serodiscordant) Relationships" refer to couples where one partner is HIV-positive and the other is HIV-negative. In these relationships, the establishment of intimacy, health, safety, and trust is often influenced by a complex intersection of medical issues, stigma, culture, gender, and cross-ethnic backgrounds.
This lecture invites you to understand the real pressures, fears, and adjustment processes faced by HIV-discordant couples:
-
How do they live with uncertainty?
-
How do they maintain a connection under the weight of stigma?
-
How do they develop their own unique resilience?
Key Topics for Discussion
Through the sharing of knowledge and experience, we will delve into:
-
Psychosocial Contexts: Common psychological and social situations for HIV-discordant couples.
