Spring Vibes and Happy Brainwaves: Psychology Department Welcomes Future Psychologists!

On a bright and sunny April 6 (Sunday), the Department of Psychology at Fo Guang University held its annual Meet & Greet for Prospective Students at Fo Guang Shan Taipei Center. This special event welcomed students who passed the first stage of the individual application process, along with their families, marking the exciting beginning of their journey as future psychologists.

This year, 243 students applied to our program. After the first round of selection, 123 outstanding applicants were invited to continue in the process. The event served as a precious first encounter between these future candidates and the faculty, offering a warm and slightly nerve-wracking atmosphere (which is totally expected—after all, psychology students are great observers, ha!).

Our department chair and faculty members gave an engaging introduction to the unique features of our program, our curriculum design, academic tracks, and provided practical tips on preparing application materials. We aimed to show that psychology isn’t just about listening—it's about understanding the meaning behind the words.

Next came a lively student-sharing session led by our enthusiastic senior students. They generously shared what daily life is like in the psychology department—from the academic challenges of cognitive science courses, to social learning in student clubs, as well as university resources, scholarships, and tips on self-care and self-awareness under academic pressure. The audience was captivated—some even opened their note apps and started taking notes! It felt like a psychology-themed TED Talk.

These 123 candidates will now move forward to the second stage of the application process, where only 35 final spots are available. The competition is fierce—true selection of the best of the best. But whether or not they ultimately join the Fo Guang Psychology family, we deeply appreciate every student and parent who came to learn more about us and be part of this meaningful gathering.
